To create a complex, mouth filling wine from ripened bunches with juicy purple fruit opulence and suede-like tannin structure for support. Optimal vine ripeness and canopy management are key to producing seamless Merlot and cabernet Franc that is perfectly suited to these varieties.

Tasting Notes: Generous, opulent core of ripe black plums from the Merlot component with underlying savoury, lead pencil shavings from Cabernet Franc fruit.  Its deep, elegant profile with ripe plum, cherry, and earthy notes, balanced by fine tannins, bright acidity, and oak spice, making it a versatile food wine, especially for game, with potential to age up to 10 years.

The Oreads partners Stellenbosch Merlot with 33% Elgin Cabernet Franc and is a typically elegant, restrained red from Cathy Marshall. Sappy, floral and enticing, it has a nice combination of scented oak, supple tannins and layers of plum and red berry fruit. 2024-29 - Tim Atkin 91
