A range of ‘escaped braai wines”, wines which allow us to push the boundaries a fair bit, try new things in the cellar and work with grapes that might not make the headlines, but most importantly interesting ‘everyday luxury” drinking wines to share with friends, family & perhaps a random passer-by. Always hand crafted in small
quantities.

A few rows of this gregarious & misunderstood grape perched upon a windswept hill in cool climate Elgin allow us a rare opportunity to achieve optimal ripeness ‘n flavour while retaining acidity to craft a wonderful rendition of this Rhone-ranger. Hand harvested, barrel fermented & matured in large format Hungarian oak, left to its own devices over winter and blended into tank for 9 months of settling before bottling unfiltered & unfined.

Tasting Notes: Well-rounded and integrated, this wine shows lime ‘n lemon curd, bright spice, just ripe white nectarine, apricot, cling peach ‘n mango, pineapple ‘n jasmine blossom, all wound round a core of lime zest, tangerine, honey & wet slate finish.  Best served lightly chilled enjoyed with rustic poultry dishes, an autumnal snoek on the braai and Cape Malay dishes.
