The grapes for this delicate and food-friendly Pinot Noir are sourced from select cool vineyard pockets in Elgin, the Overberg and Breedekloof. The Kara-Tara Pinot Noir is an elegant, lightly-wooded style showing classic strawberry and red cherry notes coupled with a hint of spice. A firm, yet silky-smooth tannin-structure supports the lovely bright fruit characteristics.
Tasting Notes: Is a modern take on a classic varietal. It has an uplifting profile of bright red fruit, warm spice, and supple tannins. On the nose strawberry, cherry and clove. Strawberry, cherry, cranberry and vanilla spice. Balanced acidity and soft tannins.
“Burgundians, beware!” – Jancis Robinson, MW
‘Tasted from tank not long before it was bottled, this is a stony, intense Pinot Noir that uses grapes from Breedekloof, Elgin and the Overberg. Fermented with 20% whole bunches, it’s savoury, tangy and stony with mouth-watering redcurrant and pomegranate fruit and graceful 15% new wood. 2025-30’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2025, 92/100
