Sourced from Kloovenburg vineyard on schist soils, contributing depth and character. Minimal intervention, indigenous yeast fermentation, old French oak maturation, manual punch-downs, and natural acidity focus. A classic, fragrant, and elegant expression of Grenache, can be compared to Pinot Noir for its delicacy.
Tasting Notes: An intense nose showing sour cherry, cranberry and pink sweets alongside lovely foresty notes of pine sap, moss and light woodsmoke. The palate is generous – ripe red fruits with a candied
quality, balanced by deep umami flavour from seaweed and cured meats. Soft tannins and bracing acidity for a puckering finis. Food Pairing: Porcini Mushroom Risotto. Fillet Steak with a shimeji mushroom sauce.
Grapes from Swartland property Kloovenburg on schist. Red cherry, cranberry, orange and a little reduction on the nose. The palate shows seemingly sweet fruit (although technically dry) to go with bright acidity and soft tannins. The most open and accessible of the collection. Alc: 13.31%. CE’s rating: 92/100.
