Gramadoelas, meaning out in the sticks, is a single vineyard of Grenache Blanc from a continental arid climate Karoo terroir at 450m above sea level. Planted in 2009 far away from traditional vine growing area, far to the eastern border of the Cape, with schist and shale soils. Grapes are destemmed and cold soaked on skins for 20 hours before pressing and natural fermentation in older oak barrels. Kept ageing on its fine lees in barrel for 9 months before bottling.
Is highly praised for its unique character, offering aromatic complexity with notes of flowers, herbs, citrus, peach, and a savory/yeasty edge, alongside vibrant acidity and a long, dry finish, creating a compelling and characterful wine from an arid Klein Karoo vineyard. It has a lovely intense flavor, purity, and angularity, noting it's full-bodied yet fresh, with great texture and a unique salty/lime-like acidity, making it a standout example of single-vineyard Grenache Blanc
Grapes from a Klein Karoo vineyard planted in 2009. Boisterous aromatics of flowers, herbs, citrus, peach and ginger, with an intriguing yeasty edge. The palate is marked by great fruit purity and racy acidity, the finish long and dry. Intensely flavoured with a compelling angularity – arresting and hugely characterful.
