Grapes were sourced from the incredible ward of Lower Duivenshokriver - situated between Riversdale, Vermaaklikheid and Heidelberg - within the Cape South Coast region. Limestone soils, cool mean ripening temperatures and only 10km from the ocean - creates a beautiful, mineral Chardonnay. The grapes were harvested in the 1st week of Feb, partly whole bunch pressed and partly crushed, fermented naturally in partly new, 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. Bottled after 10 months in oak.
Tasting Notes: Rich and perfumed aromatics showcase lemon curd and white peach, while the limestone chalkiness brings structural backbone, complemented by subtle salinity that enhances complexity. This wine balances crisp freshness with buttery richness, delivering both immediate appeal and underlying mineral precision. Decadent yet refined – a wine that marries opulence with terroir expression.
You can almost taste the salt in the air in this cool climate Chardonay from Lower Duivenshokrivier, located close to the ocean. Pithy, briny and nicely restrained, it has limestone-derived freshness, lime and rock pool flavours and a herbal, Semillon-like twist. 2025-28. Tim Atkin 93
