Pinotage was the very first wine crafted at Beaumont, and 28 years later it remains at the heart of our passion. Sourced primarily from 47‑year‑old vines that lend structure and depth, with younger vines adding vibrant fruit, this wine reflects the cooler climate of the Bot River region.
Jackals River Pinotage 2022 is a great expression of this style. At only 13.00% alcohol it is deliciously medium bodied. There are aromas of pure fruit; dark berries, mulberries and spice. Drink now, slightly chilled in the summer or over the next 10 to 15 years.
Harvested between mid‑February and mid‑March, the grapes are fermented in open concrete tanks with regular punch‑downs, then matured for 14 months in barrel and a further 8 months in tank. The result is a medium‑bodied Pinotage brimming with fresh red berry fruit, fine tannins, and an elegant, drinkable style.
A consistent 4‑star Platter’s Guide performer, Beaumont Pinotage has earned acclaim for its finesse with Jancis Robinson noting the 2011 vintage as one of the finest Pinotages she had ever tasted.
