Mick and Jeanine Craven embody the artisanal, natural spirit of the Cape wine scene. Their wines, crafted from single vineyard, single varietal grapes exclusively within the Stellenbosch region, are known for their minimal intervention and subtle elegance. The Cravens are dedicated to showcasing the unique terroir of Stellenbosch.

The grapes were destemmed into open-top concrete fermenters. Although we would love to play around with some wholebunch here, we find that Cinsaut has a low acidity (whole bunch ferments tend to reduce acidity). We like to capture the fresher, brighter characters of Cinsaut and we find the use of concrete helps us preserve the bright fruit and energy of the wine. After the fermentation on the skins is complete, we drain and press back into concrete tanks for 6 months of elevage before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Vibrant red fruit (cherry, cranberry), floral notes (rose, violet), and earthy complexity, offering a fresh, energetic, light-bodied experience with bright acidity and fine, powdery tannins, making it an excellent, versatile summer red praised for its purity, balance, and unique "funk," This is considered a standout vintage, praised for being both complex and highly drinkable, offering freshness and texture in a modern, terroir-driven style, perfect for enjoying slightly chilled with food.

The 2024 Cinsault comes from a block shared with Bernard Bredell of Scions of Sinai, mainly from the vines planted in 1968, fully de-stemmed and aged in concrete. This is very elegant, with perfumed red cherries and cranberry fruit, wilted rose petals and wild strawberries.
