The Story of the Ridge - Creation’s Ridge wines come from vineyard sites in Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, the area’s smallest, coolest and most elevated wine appellation, where ocean breezes sweep up the valley to meet
steep mountain slopes, while ancient soils anchor virus-free vines into 500 million years of history.
From Hemel-en-Aarde’s oldest Grenache vines, planted in 2003. A rich darker concentrated Grenache from cool climate - think more Spanish or French Grenanche!
100% Grenache. Hand-harvested. 50% whole bunch, fermented in large foudres. Maturation took place in 100 % second and third-fill French oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes: An aromatic lift of floral rose petals, violet notes, and exotic Asian five-spice. Richly concentrated red fruit complexity featuring flavours of ripe plum, red cherry, and bramble, balanced by negligible oak and a firm spine of tannin.
Food Pairing: Cool-climate, elegant red wine. It pairs beautifully with duck breast, quail, game birds, pork, and earthy mushroom dishes, served ideally around 16°C
50% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured in a combination of concrete tanks and 500-litre barrels. Dark fruit, lavender, herbs and spice on the nose while the palate is succulent yet structured – good fruit density, bright acidity and nicely grippy tannins. Not as effete as some local examples. Alc: 14.5%. CE’s rating: 94/100.
