Made from a Rhône-style blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache noir, 12% Cinsault and 8% Carignan, from vineyards in the Western Cape on predominantly granite & sandstone-derived soils. Grapes were hand-harvested, naturally fermented, gently pressed 2–4 times daily by hand, then matured for about 14 months in old French oak barrels of various sizes (225 L, 300 L, 500 L) and larger French oak foudres and concrete eggs in some parcels.  Bottled at 14%

Tasting Notes: Bright, somewhat wild scent, vibrant red berries (raspberry, wild strawberry) and fresh cranberry, with hints of bramble, dusty earth, and dried herbs (wild thyme / fynbos-like nuance). Subtle floral whispers (wild flowers), and a gentle undercurrent of peppery spice or dry vegetation lend it a rustic-elegant character. Alive with juicy red fruit, cranberry and sour cherry dominate, edged by a slight olive-leaf or mediterranean herb note. There’s a chalky, slightly gritty mid-palate texture, weaving through the fruit. Finishing with a lingering finish with finely grained tannins. Coastal minerality and a subtle herbal-savory note linger last, leaving the palate clean but thoughtful.

“The Cinravédre cuvee is a red blend of 50% Shiraz, 30% Grenache, 12% Cinsault and 8% Carignan grown on Granite and Schist soils that was vinified and aged in various sizes of old French oak from 225 litre to 2000 litre foudres, and several sizes in between as well as a few concrete eggs for 14 months. The aromatics are wonderfully expressive showing a fine mix of potpourri perfume, dried herbs and sweet lilac over notions of crushed red currants, smoky black cherries and dusty crushed granite. Delightfully plush, fleshy and full in the mouth, the tannins are sweet and silky, coating the mouth alongside sweet brambly black and red berry fruits, bay leaf spice, dried herbs and a sweet sappy cedary wood spice complexity on the finish. Long, generous and accessible on the palate, this is a very well-crafted expression Southern Rhone style red blend with a subtle sweet sour tangy acidity on the long fruit forward finish.
