A beautifully balanced red blend with generous fruit, savoury depth and fresh, elegant structure.
Gabriëlskloof The Blend 2024 brings together five classic Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), Cabernet Franc (16%), Merlot (12%), Petit Verdot (12%) and Malbec (6%). The 2024 vintage combines concentrated fruit with lively freshness, following a wet winter and spring and challenging conditions during flowering. The grapes were carefully hand-picked, destemmed and gravity-fed into fermentation tanks for whole-berry fermentation. Natural fermentation and 18 months of ageing in older French oak barrels allow the individual varieties to integrate while preserving the wine's expressive fruit character and distinctive savoury complexity
Tasting Notes: An inviting nose reveals ripe plum, mulberry and rich black forest cake aromas. The palate is lively and beautifully weighted, with layers of crushed red and black fruit complemented by refreshing spearmint and the crisp, slightly grippy texture of red apple skin. Dry, structured tannins add definition, while subtle leather notes bring savoury depth to the lingering finish. A versatile, contemporary red blend that balances generous fruit with freshness and structure.
Food pairing: The wine's generous dark fruit, savoury character and structured tannins make it an excellent partner for richly flavoured dishes. Grilled Ribeye Steak: The juicy, savoury richness of the beef complements the wine's dark fruit and firm tannins. Slow-Braised Beef Short Ribs: Tender meat and a rich red wine jus bring out the blend's plum, mulberry and earthy notes. Roasted Lamb with Rosemary: The savoury herbs and caramelised edges of the lamb complement the wine's structure and subtle leather character. Wild Mushroom Risotto: Earthy mushrooms and creamy Arborio rice provide a delicious counterpoint to the wine's fruit concentration and fresh finish.
