Tucked away in the rolling hills of Baardskeerdersbos, a quirky hamlet near Elim in the Cape Agulhas wine district, Giant Periwinkle Wine Estate feels like a secret whispered among wine lovers. Founded by Pierre Rabie, a winemaker with a childhood passion for the craft, and his partners Karen van Helden and Robert Stelzner, Giant Periwinkle is a testament to bold creativity and non-interventionist winemaking.

Tasting Notes: Fresh cherry and spice with soft tannins. A lively take on Pinotage (70% crushed, 30% whole-bunch). Serve chilled, perfect Summer Braai Red. Definetly skewed to a more pinot noir style. 

This hails from the "southern most Pinotage vineyard in the world", according to Pierre Rabie, and is suitably fresh and low in alcohol. Expressing the Cinsault side of the grape's parentage, it has a sheen of toasty wood, crunchy raspberry and red cherry fruit and a mineral core. 2024-28. Tim Atkin 90
