Quinta da Pedra is one of the most historical properties in the Alto Minho region, dating back to the 17th century. It is situated in the heart of Monção and Melgaço, a sub region of the Vinho Verde appellation, where Alvarinho excels. The property has 155 acres, completely dry farmed, benefiting from pure granite soils, with gentle slopes for drainage and perfect exposure.
Sourced from historic, dry-farmed vineyards rooted in the pure granite soils of the Alto Minho region. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged on its fine lees, which adds complexity while preserving its youthful, fresh profile.
Tasting Notes: Pronounced, aromatic bursts of fresh citrus, mandarin, and white stone fruits. Light to medium body that strikes a perfect balance between richness and a refreshing, mouth-watering acidity. Look for flavors of pear, white peach, and grapefruit, rounded out by a silky texture. Crisp, dry, and distinctly saline, leaving a long, mineral-driven aftertaste.
Food Pairing: Fresh seafood, oysters, prawns, crab, steamed mussels and clams. Also pairs beautifully with ceviche. It also pairs beautifully with vegetarian dishes such as grilled artichokes, zucchini fritters and a caprese salad.
Lovely fresh fruits like pears and peaches on the nose, with some seashell. It’s medium-bodied and saline with a clean, balanced finish. Drink now. James Suckling 90/100
