illimis 10-Year Anniversary Limited Edition Red Blend is a special commemorative release celebrating a decade of the Illimis Wines label, crafted as a co-ferment or blend combining Pinotage and Cinsault
In celebration of our 10th vintage, we’ve bottled something truly extraordinary. This limited-edition red blend of Pinotage and Cinsaut brings together the very best barrels from our 2024 harvest – a wine crafted to honour both our journey and the people who’ve shared it with us. With only 290 bottles produced, it is as rare as it is meaningful.
For the past decade, our philosophy has remained constant: to create small-batch, vineyard-driven wines that reflect the season, the vintage, and the place our grapes are grown. Wines showing nuanced complexity, purity of fruit, finesse and elegance.
These past 10 years have been a journey of growth and learning. We are deeply grateful for the loyal supporters who have walked this path with us, and we raise a glass to the vintages and stories still to come.
Tasting Notes: Expect an aromatic and lighter-styled, vibrant profile combining the perfumed, red-fruited lift of Cinsault with the structure and juicy fruit depth of Illimis Pinotage, emphasizing freshness, fine tannins, and pure fruit definition.
Food Pairing: an elegant, fresh, and bright South African blend of Pinotage and Cinsault. Pairs spectacularly with rich, savoury dishes that mirror its bright acidity and fine tannins. The winemaker's ultimate recommendation is a slow-cooked oxtail stew or Potjiekos with mushrooms, where the meltingly tender meat softens the tannins while the mushrooms highlight the wine's earthy undertones. Because of its vibrant red fruit and "new-wave" lighter structure, it also beautifully balances slow-roasted lamb shoulder, pan-seared duck breast with a berry reduction, or a rich wild mushroom risotto. If you prefer a casual setup, its high acidity cuts through the richness of a wood-fired tomato pizza or a curated charcuterie board featuring cured meats, biltong, and soft cheeses.
