Looking for a unique Rose - Here is one to try! Think Korean food and this wine for the win!
What is Carmenere? - Carménère is a dark-skinned grape variety originally from the vineyards of Bordeaux, and which has found a particularly suitable home in Chile. Its name is often spelt Carmenère (including in the latter country), and without accents by some. A late-ripening variety, Carménère needs high levels of sunshine and a warm summer to reach its full potential, but in the right environment it can produce fine, deeply colored red wines, with the attractive meaty plumpness of Merlot and the gently herbaceous, cedary notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Harvested in small crates and kept in the cold room overnight before being processed the following day. The pulp was pressed lightly without any prior skin contact. Juice fermented for 13 days with Oeno Pink yeast. Wine was racked and cleaned with bentonite clay for clarity.
Tasting Notes: Lozärn Carménère Rosé is fresh, vibrant and effortlessly easy-drinking, with aromas of ripe strawberries, watermelon and red cherries leading into a lively palate of juicy red berries, citrus and a delicate floral note. Bright acidity keeps the wine crisp and refreshing, while a soft, dry finish leaves a subtle fruitiness that makes it particularly appealing chilled.
Food pairing: A versatile rosé that works beautifully with lighter dishes. Grilled Prawns: The wine’s freshness complements sweet, smoky prawns. Summer Salads: Try with a goat’s cheese, strawberry and rocket salad for a bright, contrasting pairing. Charcuterie: Cured meats and mild cheeses bring out the wine’s ripe red-fruit character. Spicy Asian Cuisine: Its fruitiness and crisp acidity are well suited to dishes with chilli, ginger and aromatic herbs.
