A white blend that continues to set the benchmark.
The cornerstone of Rall Wines since its first 2008 vintage(18th Vintage now), this iconic white blend of 70% Chenin Blanc, 25% Verdelho, and 5% Viognier continues to define Donovan Rall's winemaking philosophy. Sourced predominantly from ancient granite soils in the Paardeberg, each component is naturally fermented and matured separately in a combination of seasoned French oak, 2,000L foudre, concrete eggs, and amphora before spending ten months on its lees prior to blending. This careful approach preserves purity, texture, and a remarkable sense of place, resulting in one of the Cape's most consistently outstanding white wines.
Tasting Notes: The nose is lifted and expressive, revealing delicate white florals, citrus blossom, and ripe stone fruit, complemented by a subtle smoky reduction and hints of wet stone. The palate is beautifully linear and precise, with vibrant layers of lemon zest, yellow apple, pear, and white peach wrapped around a bright citrus core. A fine mineral tension and saline thread drive the wine towards a long, refreshing finish, while the hallmark Chenin Blanc from the Noa Vineyard provides depth, balance, and remarkable consistency. Fresh, textured, and effortlessly elegant, the 2025 vintage continues the legacy of this benchmark Swartland blend with exceptional purity, energy, and ageing potential.
Food Pairing: This versatile white blend pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. Seafood: Grilled prawns, seared scallops, or lemon-herb salmon. Poultry: Roasted chicken with herbs or turkey breast with citrus glaze. Vegetarian: Butternut squash risotto or a grilled vegetable medley.
