A top-tier, age-worthy Syrah that offers purity, energy, and complexity, standing out for its balance between rustic charm and refined elegance
Syrah from a small 1999 bushvine single vineyard (0.7ha) planted in ‘treinspoor’ (high density) format in southern Stellenbosch. Settled in decomposed granite duplex soils with an underlaying ‘koffie-stone’ layer. A Syrah with its rows funnelling the cool False Bay sea air daily.
Swanesang comes from a bush-vine parcel that was established in 1996 with the SH1a clone. Inky, intense yet refreshing, with clove and cumin notes from 60% whole bunches, it has layers of blackberry and charcuterie, serious tannins and top notes of lavender and incense. Needs a bit more time in bottle to soften. 2027-32. Tim Atkin 93
