A bright, high-altitude rosé shaped by Tulbagh’s rocky slopes
The Swanepoel GPS Rosé 2024 is sourced from hand-harvested grapes grown high up against the rocky mountain slopes of the Tulbagh Valley. “GPS” refers to the blend of grape varieties that define this wine, in this case 50% Grenache, 43% Pinot Noir and 7% Syrah. The grapes are vinified in a small stone cellar where they are gently pressed and blended before undergoing cold fermentation. The wine is then aged on fine lees for four months, adding subtle texture while preserving its fresh, vibrant fruit profile. The result is a rosé that is both expressive and refreshingly pure, shaped by altitude, stone and careful hands in the cellar.
Tasting notes: Lifted aromas of bright red berries, watermelon candy and subtle floral notes. The palate is lively and fresh, showing juicy strawberry, red cherry and pomegranate, carried by a clean line of citrus zest on the finish. There is a soft textural weight from lees ageing that adds quiet depth, while the overall impression remains crisp, energetic and easy to drink.
Food pairing: A fresh and versatile rosé that works beautifully across light, flavourful dishes. Grilled Prawns: The wine’s citrus lift and red fruit profile complement lightly seasoned seafood. Summer Salads: Tomato, basil and feta enhance its freshness and watermelon-like fruit character. Light Tapas: Olives, charcuterie and grilled vegetables match its easy-drinking, food-friendly style.
