This is not your typical Grenache. Rather than bold and heady, Holism Garnacha is delicate, refined, and food-friendly, expressing the harmony between vine, soil, and sky – an authentic reflection of the Swartland’s northern frontier.
Rudiger Gretschel the wine maker: Has had 20-year-long career in the South African wine industry has included work as winemaker at Boekenhoutskloof, and Cellarmaster in Krone and Reyneke Wines. The grapes are gathered gently by hand, half laid whole into concrete, then foot-crushed in the traditional way. The remaining clusters are destemmed over them, creating layers of texture and natural rhythm. Fermentation begins of its own accord, guided not by cultivated yeasts, but by the living energy of the vineyard itself. Once the first transformation is complete, the wine rests through malolactic fermentation, achieving balance and calm. To preserve its purity, the brightness of fruit and the breath of the highland wind and it matures in a
combination of 2500l Foudre, Cement tank and Clay Amphora lending depth to the melody.
Tasting Notes: Presents a beautiful, translucent, brilliant pale ruby color, similar to the delicacy of a fine Pinot Noir. Opens with an expressive and highly aromatic burst of wild strawberries, red cherries, and tart pomegranate. These fruit notes are delicately layered with subtle floral hints of dried rose petal alongside underlying herbal tones and a touch of white pepper. Bright, pure, and vibrant on the palate. It showcases a delicate and understated style with lively, crunchy acidity. The fruit flavours - such as raspberry and plum are perfectly balanced by subtle, gentle spiciness, crushed stone mineral drives, and fine, powdery tannins.
Food Pairing: Light, ethereal, and subtly oaked Grenache with notes of raspberry, plum, and soft white pepper. Its crunchy acidity and soft tannins make it incredibly versatile food wine. Roasted or Grilled Meats: Herb-roasted lamb chops or lean cuts of beef. Poultry: Roasted duck or Peking duck. Pork & Charcuterie: Artisanal charcuterie boards (prosciutto, bresaola) or pork dishes seasoned with rosemary and thyme. Seafood: Sesame-crusted seared tuna or grilled oily fish like salmon. Cheese: Creamy, soft washed-rind cheeses like Brie and Camembert
