So what’s the story behind the label?

Named after a well known wine growing region where Grenache noir is the best known. In 1309 the Pope moved the seat of the Roman Catholic church from Rome to Avignon, from where the next 7 Popes ruled before returning to Rome in 1378. Each of these 7 Popes had a specific focus during their rule and you will find reference to each on the label.

Tasting Notes: Wild raspberry and red currant lead the way, with juicy red berry fruit joined by subtle earthy, herbal and spice notes. The palate is fresh and energetic, with a juicy mid-palate, fine-grained grip and a refreshing finish. Medium-bodied and silky in texture, it has enough structure to work at the table while remaining wonderfully approachable. Serve it slightly chilled for an even more vibrant expression.

Food Pairing: A versatile Grenache that shines with lighter meats, smoky flavours and dishes touched by spice: roast duck with cherry or pomegranate glaze highlights its bright red‑fruit character; grilled lamb chops with rosemary and garlic echo its savoury, herbal edge; chargrilled aubergine, peppers and courgettes bring out its juicy fruit and gentle earthiness; while Moroccan‑style chicken with cumin, coriander and warm spices adds an extra dimension to the wine’s fruit and spice profile.
